In this ADD-care review, learn how this homeopathic remedy can help reduce the symptoms of ADHD.

*Note: ProgressiveHealth.com does not carry ADD-care. The following review is simply for informational purposes.

ADD-care is a natural homeopathic remedy to help children and adults with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). It helps in relieving the symptoms of ADHD.

Add-care presents a variety of formulas including Pure and Pure with Bacopa, Original Formula, and Original Formula with Bacopa. The preparation improves mental focus, attention, clarity, and other ADHD symptoms.

ADD-care Original Formula: It is a homeopathic proprietary blend that contains L-tyrosine and GABA. The list of ingredients for this homeopathic proprietary blend has not been revealed by the manufacturer.

The formulation includes a blend of amino acids and a homeopathic agent. Amino acids are effective for biosynthesis, and transmission of brain-neurotransmitters.

L-tyrosine is the antecedent of several neurotransmitters, including dopamine, norepinephrine, L-dopa, and epinephrine.

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is made from glutamine and is a calming neurotransmitter. GABA deficiencies are also connected with ADHD. GABA Supplements are known to overcome hyperactivity.

ADD-care Original Formula with Bacopa: It contains the herb bacopa monniere, for additional energy and alertness. The herb is known to improve blood flow, energy production, and ATP in the brain. It also improves mental focus and cognitive function.

ADD-care Pure: It is an effective homeopathic proprietary blend. Unlike Original Formula, the Pure formula doesn’t contain L-tyrosine or GABA.

ADD-Pure is specially formulated for people who experience certain side effects with L-tyrosine or GABA. It supports the mental focus, clarity, and memory that diminish with age and menopause.

Known Ingredients of ADD-Care ADHD Products

L-Tyrosine

L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid. It is useful in the syntheses of proteins and neurotransmitters.

The primary benefit of L-Tyrosine for ADHD patients is its ability to increase the amount of some of the neurotransmitters produced in the brain.

Tyrosine is converted to levodopa in the dopaminergic cells of the brain. The conversion is catalyzed by the enzyme, tyrosine hydroxylase. This is the first step in the synthesis of dopamine.

After tyrosine is converted to dopamine, the neurotransmitter can then be converted to other neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and epinephrine.

By increasing the concentration of these neurotransmitters, tyrosine contributes to the balance of brain chemicals in ADHD patients.

Dopamine and norepinephrine act as the synapses of neurons to produce stimulatory effects in the brain. By this mechanism, these neurotransmitters can improve mental clarity, focus, attention span, and cognition.

Tyrosine also improves ADHD symptoms by a secondary mechanism. The amino acid is needed for the production of thyroid hormones. Thyroxine and triiodothyronine produced in the thyroid gland are derived from tyrosine.

When the concentrations of these hormones are low in the body, a medical condition referred to as hypothyroidism is diagnosed. Hypothyroidism contributes to the severity of ADHD. In fact, both conditions share some symptoms.

Therefore, by increasing the production of thyroid hormones, tyrosine prevents hypothyroidism and reduces ADHD symptoms such as fatigue and mental impairment.

GABA

Gamma-Aminobutyric acid is an amino acid but it is more commonly known as a neurotransmitter. GABA is the most important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system.

GABA causes the hyperpolarization of neurons in the brain. It does this by binding to specific receptors on the membranes of neurons and triggering the opening of ion channels. These actions lead to the inflow of negatively charged chloride ions into neuronal cells and the outflow of positively charged potassium ions.

In this way, GABA reduces the transmission of excitatory signals in the neurons of the brain. This leads to a significant reduction in the perception of distracting stimuli. In ADHD patients, this inhibitory action of GABA reduces distraction and irritability while increasing mental focus, attention span, and calm.

GABA also stimulates the production of human growth hormone in the brain. This can be helpful for very young children diagnosed with ADHD. In these children, GABA can promote brain development and may even lead to the disappearance of ADHD later in life.

Bacopa

Bacopa is the common name of Bacopa monniera, a perennial herb that grows in wet soils. Bacopa is also called Brahmi (not to be confused with Centella Asiatica which also goes by that name in traditional Indian medicine).

Bacopa is traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat epilepsy and asthma. It is also used by the Indians to improve memory and cognitive functions.

The antioxidant properties of Bacopa are needed to protect nerves from oxidative damage. The polyphenol and sulfhydryl components of the herb extract prevent neurological damage in ADHD patients by mopping up reactive oxygen species, detoxifying harmful heavy metals, and inhibiting cellular processes producing free radicals.

The active ingredients of Bacopa are so potent that they have been shown to sole sufficient for restoring and improving memory in different clinical studies. Some of these active compounds are alkaloids such as Brahmi and herpestine; saponins, flavonoids, beta-sitosterol, stigmasterol, and several bacopa saponins.

Bacopa is also known to improve the immune system.

Bacopa is a potent hyperaccumulator of heavy metals. Therefore, it is useful in phytoremediation which is the use of plants to remove environmental pollutants.

Because it removes heavy metals, Bacopa can prevent cadmium, lead, mercury, and chromium from causing neurological damage. In this way, it protects ADHD patients and prevents the worsening of their symptoms.
