Reviewing Amoryn and Exulin for Depression

*Note: ProgressiveHealth.com does not carry Amoryn. The following review is simply for informational purposes:

Amoryn is a St. John's Wort formula that is clinically proven to relieve depression and anxiety with few side effects.

The St. John's Wort in Amoryn is more effective then other brands of St. John's Wort and Amoryn has the same concentration of St. John's Wort found in pharmaceutical grade European extracts.

Amoryn does contain other ingredients that synergize with St. John's Wort to enhance its antidepressant and anti-anxiety properties. The ingredients in Amoryn include:

  • Hyperforin - the active ingredient in St. John's Wort which acts as a reuptake inhibitor of the brain's natural "feel good" chemical messengers serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine & GABA.
  • 5-HTP - is used by the brain to make serotonin, the brain's natural "feel good" neurotransmitter.
  • Rhodiola Rosea - is an adaptogenic herb that can increase serotonin activity by up to 30% also increases the activity of two other mood-related neurotransmitters - dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE) - by inhibiting the activity of COMT, an enzyme that breaks down DA and NE.
  • B Vitamins - provide nutritional support for mood-related pathways. B6, B12 and Folic Acid allow your brain to produce extra SAM-e, a proven natural antidepressant used in Europe for over 20 years.
  • Selenium - Clinical research shows that a diet low in selenium may contribute to feelings of depression, anxiety and fatigue.
  • Vitamin D3 - has been shown to elevate mood, and may be particularly effective at relieving seasonal depression. Vitamin D appears to increase the activity of serotonin, the brain's natural "feel good" neurotransmitter, and may also reduce the risk of cancer.
  • Zinc - can help improve mood
  • Vitamin C - is an antioxidant used throughout the body to protect cells, including nerve cells in the brain.

Exulin - A Natural Vitamin Supplement For Depression

Exulin supports emotional well being by targeting specific neurotransmitters known to affect mood. Exulin works by addressing two key principles in depression recovery, correcting nutrient deficiencies known to cause depression and increases the neurotransmitters responsible for positive mood.

Exulin's ingredients are backed by years of clinical research; insuring that you receive an effective, safe, and natural alternative to combat depression and its many associated symptoms. The ingredients in Exulin include:

  • L-Phenylalanine - This amino acid is required for the production of neurotransmitters. Several studies indicate that L-Phenylalanine can produce results equal to or better than tricyclic antidepressants while causing no side effects, with noticeable results within 2-4 weeks.
  • Rhodiola Rosea Ext. - This botanical's chemical constituents aid in transporting nutrients to the brain; including tryptophan, 5-HTP, and serotonin. In addition, Rhodiola may be helpful for decreasing the enzymes that break down serotonin.
  • Vitamin B6 - B-vitamin compounds are important for the conversion of tryptophan into serotonin. Deficiencies in vitamin B6 have been associated with depression and anxiety.
  • Folic Acid - Doctors at the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School suggest that depressive symptoms can be a sign of an underlying folic acid deficiency.
  • Methylcobalamin - Methylcobalamin deficiency has been associated with depression in the elderly.
  • St John's Wort Ext. - Studies have shown that St John's Wort to be as effective as SSRIs, when administered to individuals with mild to moderate depression.
  • Gingko Biloba Ext. - Often used in combination with St. John's Wort to help with severe cases of depression, this popular herb improves circulation throughout the body, including the brain.
