Product Review: Attention Link

Attention Link is a natural supplement used for alleviating ADHD symptoms.

*Note: ProgressiveHealth.com does not carry Attention Link. The following review is simply for informational purposes.

Hi-Tech's Attention Link is a natural supplement for children and adults with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). It is the latest innovation in the line of nutraceutical brain supplements to boost memory and brain functions.

Unlike other ADHD products, Attention Link features a careful selection of blended herbs, micronutritients, and other compounds that have shown to enhance mood, promote mental clarity, and reduce anxiety.

Attention Link offers a natural substitute to the normally prescribed medications for ADHD. It contains a proprietary blend of the following herbs and nutrients:

  • Phenylethylamine HCL
  • Acacia Rigidula extract (leaves)
  • DMAE Bitartrate
  • L-Tyrosine
  • Gamma Amino Butyric Acid
  • L-Threonine, Inositol
  • Theobroma Cocoa Extract (seeds)
  • Citrus Aurantium Extract (seeds, fruit)
  • Naringen (fruit)
  • 6-7 Dihydroxybergamottin (fruit)
  • 5-Hydroxytrytophan (5-HTP)
  • Co-Enzyme B-12 (Dibencozide)

Attention Link promotes mental focus, concentration and brain health. It provides precursors of neurotransmitters which aids in reducing brain imbalances and dysfunction.

How the Ingredients of Attention Link Work

Phenylethylamine and Extract of Acacia rigidula Leaves

Phenylethylamine is a natural alkaloid which is also present in the leaves of Acacia rigidula. It serves as a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system where it produces a stimulant effect.

Phenylethylamine is similar to amphetamine in structure and it is found in very low concentrations in people diagnosed with ADHD. When it gets to brain, phenylethylamine produces its stimulatory effects by stimulating the release of dopamine and norepinephrine.

When dopamine and norepinephrine are released, they can act longer at the synapses of neurons in the brain. Their overall effects are to improve mood, memory and mental focus.

Unfortunately, most of the oral forms of phenylethylamine are lost to metabolic enzymes on their way to the brain. By including both this active agent and Acacia rigidula leaf extracts in Attention Link, the dose of phenylethylamine supplied is high enough for a significant amount to reach the brain and produce the desirable effects in ADHD patients.

This strict regulation of phenylethylamine by metabolic enzymes is actually an advantage since high levels of the neurochemical in the brain can lead to schizophrenia.

Phenylethylamine (PEA) is an amphetamine-like substance naturally found in chocolate and botanical acacia rigidula. It uplifts mood and stimulates the transmission of brain neurotransmitters.

DMAE and GABA

DMAE or Dimethylaminoethanol is used in the body to produce acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter. Because DMAE can easily cross the blood-brain barrier, it produces most of its effects in the central nervous system.

DMAE is the originator of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. DMAE has shown to improve memory, learning ability and hyperkinesis.

DMAE is converted in the brain to choline which is then used to make acetylcholine. In this way, DMAE promotes the needed balance of neurotransmitters in ADHD patients.

The choline produced from DMAE can also be used to make phospholipids which are incorporated in cell membranes to provide the structural integrity of brain cells and neurons.

GABA is gamma Aminobutyric acid which is an amino acid and a neurotransmitter. It is acts at receptors on the membranes of neurons. When it binds to these receptors, it causes the influx of chloride ions and outflow of potassium ions from the cells of the neurons.

These actions lead to the hyperpolarization of the neurons so that GABA counters the excitatory effects of some of the other neurotransmitters. Therefore, GABA reduces the propagation of “noisy” signals in the brain to reduce hyperactivity and promote mental focus and attention span.

L-Tyrosine and L-Threonine

The amino acids tyrosine and threonine are considered as precursors for biosynthesis of norepinephrine, neurotransmitters epinephrine, and dopamine.

L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid. Its chief function is in the syntheses of proteins involved in signal transduction and as a precursor to some neurotransmitter.

Tyrosine is useful in ADHD treatment because it increases the concentration of dopamine and norepinephrine. It also improves the mood of stressed, hyperactive and fatigued ADHD patients.

It is also known to improve cognition. Strangely, tyrosine does not produce these effects in people without ADHD.

L-Threonine is an essential amino acid which is useful for overall health and the normal functioning of the central nervous system.

Inositol and Dibencozide

Inositol is technically a carbohydrate but it was once classified as a member of the B vitamin complex. It is most accurately described as a signaling molecule.

For ADHD patients, inositol increases mental focus and attention while reducing hyperactivity and impulsiveness by maintaining the potential of neuronal cell membranes, regulating the activity of serotonin, and protecting neurons.

Dibencozide is another name for cobalamide or adenosylcobalamin. It is one of the active forms of Vitamin B12 which is needed for neurological support in the nervous system.

A deficiency of this vitamin produces symptoms quite similar to those of ADHD. Dibencozide is needed in the body for the production of neurotransmitters. By this means, they help improve concentration and attention span in ADHD patients.

5-Hydroxytryptophan

5-HTP is generated in the body from the amino acid L-tryptophan. It is converted to serotonin, an essential neurotransmitter that aids in regulating mental and emotional balance, inflammation, blood pressure, pain control, and other body functions.

It is also used to produce melatonin which promotes sleep and normal circadian cycles in ADHD children.

Theobroma cacao, Citrus aurantium Extract and 6’,7’-dihydroxybergamottin

Citrus aurantium or bitter orange is used as a stimulant in herbal medicine. As with 6’,7’-dihydroxybergamottin, which is a natural furanocoumarin found in grapefruit juice and bergamot oil,  care should be taken to avoid adverse interaction with other medications since its active ingredients can affect the metabolism of some drugs.

The theobroma cocoa and methylxanthines citrus aurantium (synephrine) improve metabolism, boost energy levels and encourage fat breakdown and calorie burning.

Naringen

Naringen is a bioflavonoid which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It prevents the rupture of blood vessels and is useful for promoting brain health in ADHD patients.

Naringen and dihydroxybergamottin (bergamot oil) can prolong the activity of methylxanthines. Co-enzyme B12 works directly on muscles, nerves and other cells to generate energy.

Pros

Attention Link is the result of three years of extensive research and development carried out in the firm in Belize, Pharmatech Limited.

This natural herbal remedy is known to treat ADHD, promote brain health, support mental focus, uplift mood, and improve concentration.

Cons (Side Effect)

Some people might experience headache or nausea when taking 5-hydroxy tryptophan. However at this time, there is no firm evidence regarding the side effects.

Dihydroxybergamottin might have an effect on the metabolism of several pharmaceutical drugs.

Naringen might influence the intestinal absorption of specific drugs and should not be combined with any prescription medications.

Some side effects of vitamin B12 might include anxiety, heart palpitations, mild diarrhea, breathing problems, insomnia, skin rash, chest pain, and allergic reactions.

DMAE might cause side effects such as depression and hypomania.

Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and people with pre-existing medical conditions should consult a health care professional before taking Attention Link.

Are There Any Drug Interactions?

Some drugs might interact with nutrients found in Attention Link. If you are taking this medication then you must avoid the following drugs:
