Irritation in Your Anus and Lower Rectum

Are you experiencing protrusions in the vascular network beneath the anal canal in your rectum?

In a healthy person, the tissue surrounding the anus, or "anal cushion," fills with blood to help regulate the elimination of waste materials from the body (i.e. bowel movements).

When excessive pressure, or other factors, cause the veins within the "cushions" to become inflamed and stretch, anal protrusions and anal itching is the result.

WHAT Can Help?

The following publications have reported how supplements can help alleviate anal discomfort:
Bioflavonoids are a type of plant compound that is thought to work by stabilizing and strengthening blood vessel walls and by decreasing tenderness in the affected area. They have been found to reduce anal itching, discomfort, and anal discharge. - About.com
Horse chestnut seeds, leaves, bark, and flowers have been used for a variety of conditions and diseases. - nccam.nih.gov
USES: Horse chestnut has been used for swelling and pain due to varicose veins and chronic circulation problems. It helps anal itching by reducing the swelling in the anus (phlebitis). - medicinenet.com
Bilberry extract, or Vaccinium myrtillus, is a potent flavonoid that protects and maintains venous strength and function. - supplementnews.org
Q. A reader recently reported using zinc oxide for anal protrusions symptoms. I just wanted you to know that I have been using zinc oxide for this purpose for years. I thought no one else knew about it!

It’s something I just tried on my own after little or no relief from such ointments as Preparation H. Zinc oxide provides almost instant relief. I told my doctor years ago, but she had never heard of using zinc oxide for anal discomfort.

A. Zinc oxide cream appears to be safe and inexpensive. When we looked for it at the drugstore, we found it sold as a diaper-rash cream.

WHO Gets Anal Discomfort?

Signs and Symptoms:
The signs and symptoms of anal discomfort vary from person to person and are dependent upon the classification. Keep in mind that the signs and symptoms listed below may be an indicator of a more severe, underlying deficiency.

HOW Do I Relieve Anal Discomfort?

Conventional Approaches

Standard approaches for anal protrusions involve several options: supplements, prescriptions, surgical procedures.

However, mild anal protrusions can be solved by employing simple changes to diet and bowel habits. Most cases do not require surgery or specialized treatments unless they have become extremely painful.

Sclerotherapy:

A chemical solution is injected around the anal protrusion. The objective of sclerotherapy is to limit blood supply to the protrusion until the condition subsides and/or shrinks.

The remaining scar tissue that has formed (resulting from the lack of blood supply and shrinkage of the anal protrusions) minimizes the recurrence of the condition by supporting surrounding anal tissues.

Rubber-band Ligation:

This is an outpatient procedure that is relatively nontraumatic.

During the treatment, a rubber-band is placed around the base of the anal protrusion inside the rectum. Like sclerotherapy, the band cuts off circulation and causes the protrusion to wither away within a number of days. More than one session may be necessary.

Infrared light:
During this procedure, bursts of infrared light are used to inhibit blood circulation to small, bleeding, internal anal protrusions.
Hemorrhoidectomy:

This refers to the actual excision of the anal protrusion and subsequent restructuring of any affected rectal mucosa. It is usually the last option and is only used if all other treatment options have failed.

It can be done on either an inpatient or outpatient setting and requires anesthesia.

How Avatrol Can Help

Avatrol contains a synergistic blend of all-natural ingredients that promote circulatory and gastrointestinal health. Here are just a few of the ingredients that help reduce anal protrusions:

Horse Chestnut

Horse chestnut has been used for swelling and pain due to varicose veins and chronic circulation problems.

It has also been used to help reduce swelling caused by anal protrusions.

Citrus Bioflavonoids

Several botanical extracts have been shown to improve microcirculation, capillary flow, and vascular tone, and to strengthen the connective tissue of the perivascular amorphous substrate.

Oral supplementation may prevent time-consuming, painful, and expensive complications of varicose veins and anal protrusions.

Oat Straw

Oats can be helpful for high blood pressure, obesity, varicose veins, and anal protrusions.

Oat fiber produces bulkier stools and speeds their passage through the gut, reducing the exposure of the gut lining to irritants and carcinogens.

Bilberry

Bilberry is helpful for managing varicose veins and anal protrusions and rebuilding healthy connective tissue.

In a 4-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 40 people with anal protrusions, oral use of bilberry extract significantly reduced symptoms as compared to placebo.

I live close to the Mexican border and medications are readily available there.

One can find all kinds of medicines in Mexico. I tried some remedies recommended by the pharmacists over there to no avail also. Finally one night I started to look on the Internet and I found Progressive Health. com. I decided to try Avatrol. I ordered Avatrol and received it and within DAYS I had immediate relief.

I wound recommend it and I have recommended it highly to others." - Julia Guerrero, Texas

Frequently Asked Questions

Can hemorrhoids become cancerous?

  • Although hemorrhoids are extremely discomforting, they are not cancerous or life-threatening. If anything, they are more of an inconvenience due to the burning, itching, and swelling that can occur. However, severe hemorrhoids can be quite painful and should be evaluated by a physician. As well, if any blood is found in your stool with regularity, you should also seek immediate medical assistance.

I heard that hemorrhoids are a normal part of pregnancy. Is this true?

  • Yes, hemorrhoids are common during pregnancy. It is estimated that some 80% of all pregnant women develop hemorrhoids during pregnancy. The growing uterus puts additional pressure on the veins located in the pelvis, and inferior cava (the large vein that supplies the lower limbs with blood). This pressure slows the return of blood from your lower body, resulting in compression of the veins located below the uterus.

Hemorrhoids are in fact blood vessels, or they are commonly referred to as, "varicose veins." Therefore, the added stress often leads to dilation or swelling of vessels located in the rectal area. In addition, women who have suffered from hemorrhoids previous to pregnancy are more likely to develop the condition during gestation.

Are there any things I can do at home to prevent the occurrence of hemorrhoids?

  • Most hemorrhoids are considered mild to moderately severe. Modifications in diet and lifestyle can often relieve some, if not all, of hemorrhoid symptoms. Your primary goal should be to ensure that your stool is soft and passed easily. Adjustments that you may want to make at home before seeing your physician, include:

-Maintaining adequate hydration: 8-12 glasses of water daily
-Increasing fiber Intake: Gradually increase fiber intake to bulk and soften stools
-Eat more vegetables: Not only do vegetables contain abundant amounts of fiber, but a large number of dietitians also suggest that persons who are prone to, or have recurrent hemorrhoids should obtain 65-70% of their diet from vegetable sources.
-Exercise: Relaxation techniques and other exercises can ease stress.
-Stool Softeners: You may want to use stool softeners to help with elimination processes. However,   these should be used sparingly.
-Other approaches to lessen the severity and occurrence of hemorrhoids can include; sitz baths, not straining during bowel movements, not scratching the area, avoiding the use of toilet paper with perfumes or colors, wearing cotton undergarments, and applying witch hazel to the affected area with a cotton swab.

Are nutritional supplements and diet really that influential for hemorrhoid treatment and prevention?

  • Absolutely. Diet plays a critical role in maintaining healthy bowel movements. Nutritional supplementation that is designed to target the factors associated with condition onset can not only help to manage hemorrhoids more troublesome symptoms but also ensures that nutrients needs are met for proper colon health.

What's more, hemorrhoids are thought to occur only in human beings. No other animals are thought to suffer from such an ailment. This may provide a key indicator in regards to diet and other lifestyle habits; suggesting that what we eat and how we take care of ourselves plays a greater role in this disorder than any other influential factor.
